Tasting Notes

Sunday marks the start of Daylight Savings, and I couldn’t be more thrilled! While we’ll lose an hour of sleep and the accompanying disruptions, it also means longer daylight hours, which heralds the arrival of Spring! Have you heard of Five Points Vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills? I hadn’t until a few months ago. I reached out to Mike Spath, the owner, and his wife, Donna, to sample their wines. Currently, they offer a 23 Chardonnay and Pinot. I was fortunate enough to try both. Tonight, I’m sampling the Chardonnay. It’s been fascinating to observe how it’s transformed over the past 24 hours. When I first opened it last night, it reminded me of a Chablis, but with a more robust weight and texture. After a few hours, the acidity emerged and shone through. Tonight, it feels more like a classic Chardonnay, with the acidity still prominent, accompanied by a racy mid-palate that gives way to a delightful, extended finish. Be sure to get Five Points vineyard (@fivepointsvineyard) on your list to check out! 👇 👇 👇 👇 Would you like to get a Saturday morning email once a month to read with your coffee giving you an insider perspective on a winery?
