Tasting Notes
Audeant is one of my absolute favorites and I don’t open many bottles. Looking in my cellar there are quite a few bottles, but I might open 2-3 a year. It is that special to me.
The 2022 Lumunious Hills Pinot Noir is showing off wonderfully tonight. It is the meaning of elegance when it comes to Pinot Noir. On the nose there is a slight hint of spice. The entry is smooth and sultry.
On the mid-palate, the tannins grab you a bit, but not overpowering whatsoever. I always try to think of how a wine grabs you mid-conversation with a close friend. The mid-palate is where this wine will force you to pay attention, but not in a Mortal Kombat “Come here” way. This is NOT the holy toledo batman tannin making you wish for a juicy ribeye to balance everything out. This is an “Oh, I hear you” tannin structure.
Then comes the finish. That spice from the nose makes its way back around, along with that solid, in-place tannin structure. Again, not overpowering, but making sure to grab your attention. Almost like a 4-year-old who makes a bit of a fit when you get on the phone with a friend to have a good conversation. You know you have to pay attention.
This wine is 4 years young and will easily go for another 16 years. This is why I barely open any of these bottles. Audeant is so under the radar and I feel so incredibly grateful to have stumbled upon their label 6 years ago. The people behind this label are incredible and kick absolute patootski!
