Tasting Notes

I must confess, I have a problem. Yes, we all know I have a soft spot in my heart for all out of this world wine, especially Oregon Pinot, but tonight I have a different problem. My deck was falling apart. The wood was rotting and I no longer have a railing to place the bottle and glass of wine. I am sure something will make itself apparent, but for now this will have to do. Last month I visited Dusky Goose for the first time in 6 freaking years. What in the whole wide world of wine is wrong with me? Everything about Dusky is subtle and wonderful, including tonight’s 2019 Fennwood Pinot Noir. This wine flies below the radar. I always try to imagine how a wine would affect me mid-conversation with a close friend. This wine needs your 100% complete attention. The 2019 vintage is off the charts and the Fennwood follows suit. Dark aromas and clove on the nose give way to an entry of smooth elegance, allowing the mid-palate to fully open up. Those dark fruits paired with a solid, well-placed tannin structure that never overpowers tells me this wine is ready for the ages. On the finish, a beautiful clove spice lingers alongside a subtle tannin structure that just won’t quit. Circling back to my visit at Dusky, I’m reminded of the Five Spice dinner that was supposed to happen during the 2020 lockdown, meeting the sales rep at Taveen on Kruse, and the stories behind the brand. It always surfaces how much Hans, the former winemaker, has a heart of gold and still supports the brand big time. I adore the ever loving heck out of Dusky and I am ashamed to say I should have visited more often in the past six years. Don’t make the same mistake I did, visit this amazing tasting room today! 👇 👇 👇 👇 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 # oregonvinocountry winelover wineblog winestagram redwine whitewine weekdaywine wine🍷 winelover winenight winetasting winetime redwinelover onethewine winerylovers chardonnay oregonwine oregonwinecountry oregon sipwithus
