It snowed significantly last night, at least where I live. Do you know what that means? It’s time to open up some Sparkling! You know I will find every excuse possible to open a bottle of Bubbles.
Not long ago, I came across a Washington Sparkling House named Tirriddis (Triage, Riddle, Disgorge) Sparkling Wine (@tirriddis). I heard good things, and of course, I had to try it out! With yesterday’s post all about skin contact Pinot Gris, I had to keep the ball rolling with a Blanc de Gris.
Rendition No. 3 of the Blanc de Gris is a blend of 75% Pinot Gris and 25% Chardonnay triaged for seven months from the Columbia Valley. Right out the gate, quite a few bubbles fill the glass paving the way for an enjoyable mid-palate where you start to taste fruit from the Pinot Gris only to be presented with Chardonnay swooping in to add complexity and acidity. For the finish, the lingering Pinot Gris fruit plays with the Bubbles leaving a wide smile on your face!
