Tasting Notes
It's been a while since I last compared two bottles of the same grape variety to explore their different expressions. I was taken by surprise by the second Gamay I tried recently, so I decided to open another one from Hundred Suns. Stay tuned for the second bottle.
Looking back a few years, it was quite challenging to find Gamay, but the situation has improved since then. The number of Gamay plantings is increasing, suggesting that it will become even more accessible in the future.
When I think of Gamay, I associate it with a lighter profile in terms of color, body, and mouthfeel. The 2022 Hundred Suns Gamay Noir embodies many of these classic traits that I appreciate. Grant and Renee have crafted an exceptional Gamay that still maintains these characteristics even three days later.
