Tasting Notes

This morning was the first morning in many months where I was unable to work from the back deck. It was downright cold (I was going to say chilly, but cold is way more appropriate). Guess I will start saying my goodbyes to summer. I am sure you are thinking, “Where was the party?” Well, the party was on the podcast with Kelsey Glasser (@raiseaglasswine). She is the owner of Arden (@ardenportland), a fabulous restaurant downtown and a certified Sommelier. She has a fantastic 7-Day Sommelier Course and just started her own podcast, “Her Way” with @watchtodos. This week’s podcast episode was a little different. We started off with some sparkling and then blind-tasted four other Oregon wines. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay had to be included in the mix, but with Oregon being so diverse, there were a couple of little surprises. We started off with the Vintage 20 Extra Brut Sparkling from Arabilis (@arabiliswines). Kelsey blinded me on the 2022 Hundred Suns (@hundredsunswine) Old Eight Cut Chardonnay. In return, I brought out the 2022 Bledsoe McDaniels (@bledsoe_mcdaniels) Chenin Blanc from the Coulee vineyard. The next wine got me real good! It was a Kelley Fox (@kelley_fox_wines) Blueberry wine that is made just like her Pinot Noir. I wrapped everything up with a 2013 Dusky Goose (@duskygoosewinery) Pinot Noir. Blind tasting is so humbling and educational! You have to tune in on Thursday to hear some great stories along with our thoughts on these wines. Trust me, this is an episode you don’t want to miss. We talked for almost 90 minutes. Subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts (Apple Podcasts, Spotify, etc.) and on YouTube! 👇 👇 👇 👇 # oregonvinocountry 🍷
