Tasting Notes
One of the many aspects of wine I adore is exploring to see where the path takes you. Over the summer, I was introduced to Aligote while tasting at Domaine Divio. I have to admit I fell head over heels for the wine and am currently on a mission to seek out as much Aligote as possible. Flaneur and Andante Vineyard are currently on my list to check out. If you know of others, please let me know!
Tonight is all about the 2021 X Sava Vineyard Aligote from Walter Scott. Before I even try to describe this wine, everything from Walter Scott is top-notch! I adore the wines, the people, pursuit of quality, and the X Sava Aligote follows that trend without a shadow of a doubt. In the glass, you might think it looks like a young Chardonnay, but you immediately know it is not a Chardonnay on the nose. There are subtle hints of stone fruit, but it is definitely not a Riesling. On the mid-palate, you are greeted with a lovely high acidic wine telling you I am Aligote (translation - please don’t compare me to any other grape, aka teenager talk saying I am my own person). There is no sweetness, only pure pleasure, leaving you only wanting another sip to dive deeper into what is in the glass.
