Tasting Notes
It was almost hot out today getting yard work done, and I am not complaining one little bit at all. Somehow TN beat LSU, and I am sure there will be all sorts of Orange blood on the field next week when we play AL.
Today I am enjoying day two of something way different. The 2021 "Piume" Red Blend is a Merlot and Pinot Noir blend from Pray Tell Wines (@praytellwines). It is 60% Merlot from the Rocks District and 40% Pinot Noir from Eola-Amity. Before I get into what I think about the wine, I have never had a Pinot Merlot blend, much less heard of it. So I bought a few bottles sight unseen for a couple of reasons. First, Tom does fantastic work, and I implicitly trust his work. Second, I was extremely curious!
In the glass, the wine gives off those deep dark purple colors.
On day one, you get the boldness of the Merlot, but not overpowering. Day Two was mind-blowing! The tannins smoothed out, and those deep dark fruits settled into a luscious expression of craftsmanship. If you get the chance to try a Merlot Pinot blend, I highly suggest feeding your curiosity!
