Tasting Notes
It’s rare to have a Monday turn into a joyous treat. Today was one of those days that was full of delights where everything went exceptionally well, and things just got done! Another unexpected treat was the 2021 Guerrilla Wine Co. Washington Syrah.
I never know what to expect when opening a Syrah. There is a decent chance of getting something grippy and full of tannins, but on the other hand, there is the opportunity to taste something smooth and delightful.
This Syrah from Guerrilla Wine Co is on the soft and lovely side of the fence. In the glass, it could pass for a darker Pinot Noir. There is delicious fruit to savor on the nose, slipping into a pleasurable entry, preparing you for a mid-palate full of luscious dark fruit intertwined with spice and acidity. There is something magical about the finish. The tannins are agreeably integrated for an extended velvety finish, giving the impression that this is not your typical Syrah.
