Tasting Notes

I’m sure you’re aware that when you plant grapevines, it takes at least three years before they bear fruit. The first year grapes are harvested from the vine is referred to as the “first leaf.” Wines begin to show truly amazing expressions after ten-plus leaves, which is at least 13 years. Can you imagine waiting that long? Yet, watching these vines grow is incredibly satisfying! I mention all of this because I, too, must wait. Sometimes it’s years before I hear updates on a project; other times, it’s thankfully only months. When I first heard about Balsall Creek (@balsallcreek), they weren’t ready. Months went by, and I have to say the wait was well worth it! Located in a special spot in Calkins Lane, they boast a fantastic tasting room with an incredible view, and an in-house kitchen for some special dinners. And what about the wine? NW Wine Company is crafting the wines, with Bruno in charge of viticulture. If you don’t know Bruno, let me know and I will fill you in. The 2021 Estate Pinot Noir is quite nice! With warmer temperatures outside, I enjoy my Pinot slightly chilled. Everything about this wine is delightful! On the nose, you catch hints of bright and slightly darker red fruits. On the mid-palate, everything integrates perfectly. For me, finding a Pinot that is smooth and elegant is my jam! I need to visit soon for a full tasting experience, and you should do the same! 👇 👇 👇 👇 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 Would you like to get a Saturday morning email once a month to read with your coffee giving you insider tips on events, news, and an in-depth perspective on a winery?
