Tasting Notes
Yesterday I introduced you to Balsall Creek; today, I want to dive in a little deeper.
If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I’m a fan of Aligoté. I’m aware of about 10 wineries producing Aligoté. If you’re a white wine fan looking for a solid choice that doesn’t break the budget and is delicious, I can’t recommend Aligoté enough.
When I think of other white wines like Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Gris, they all have very distinct flavor profiles. Aligoté doesn’t hit you like that at all. It’s an unexpected “pleasure bomb.” I have to be “in the mood” for Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Gris, but I can enjoy Aligoté anytime!
The 2021 Balsall Creek Aligoté (@balsallcreek) meets all my expectations! It offers great acidity mixed with luscious fruit. I wonder if Balsall Creek will host a dinner featuring fish paired with this bottle? I’ve been looking at the calendar to see when I can visit for a tasting. Are you planning to go? If so, let me know when!
