Day 23 of Oregon Sparkling!
I didn’t celebrate when I finished putting together the Sparkling, but I think I need to open something special when this series comes to a close. I feel it needs to be a Sparkling of some sort. So throw some suggestions my way!
🥂 Fact
Second Fermentation. A small amount of sugar and yeast – liqueur d’expédition – is added before the bottle is sealed, which causes another fermentation inside the bottle. The CO2 gas formed by the fermentation cannot escape and dissolves into the wine, creating Sparkling’s bubbles.
🥂 Winery - Sokol Bloser
Sokol Blosser is one of those wineries setting the groundwork for the Oregon Wine community we know today. Their first vines were planted in 1971, and throughout the years, they continue to be a leader in sustainable practices. Every year they publish a report detailing their triple bottom line of People, Planet, Profit.
