Tasting Notes
Day 7 of Oregon Sparkling!
When I drove up to Deponte for their bottle of Sparkling, it was the first time I had visited the property. I was absolutely blown away from the view high atop the Dundee Hills looking over the Valley. Maybe I can find another sunny day this year to visit and take in the views. If you have been and have any insider tips, please let me know!
🥂 Fact
When opening Sparkling, the proper etiquette is to open ever so slightly and quietly. It should be no louder than that of a nun’s fart. The trick to making this happen is to hold the cork with one hand while twisting the bottle with the other hand. You will start to feel the cork wanting to pop off but have patience. Keep the cork somewhat in the bottle until all the bottle has completed “farting.” Or, if you're going to have fun, step outside, twist the bottle while holding the cork. Once the cork is inching out, release and watch it fly!
🥂 Winery
Visiting Deponte is absolute bliss! Driving up to the winery feels like you are escaping into a secret portal filled with wine and views for days. Try to visit when it’s not raining to get the whole experience.
