Tasting Notes
I am doing my best to try other wines outside of Oregon, and tonight is another one from Croatia. Opening a bottle I know very little about is a little terrifying. At the end of the day, I look forward to something known to help wind down and relax a bit. To say I was pleasantly surprised when I took my first sip is a bit of an understatement. Also, to try and describe this wine baffles my mind a bit.
I am doing a copy and paste from @topochinesvino from a few days ago about this wine:
From Ahearne Vino in Croatia, this “Wild Skins” gem is a blend of three indigenous Croatian grapes: Pošip, Kuc, and Bogdanuša. The juice ferments on skins and on the lees for up to 350 days. The color and texture are stunning. The aroma and flavor are unexpected - not funky like you get with many skin-contact wines. Lush, rich, fruity, with great acidity. Honey, citrus, stone fruit. Yum! Available in our web wine store for $30. Link to store in profile.
350 days skin contact! I was expecting this wine to be something you need to acquire a taste for, but I was mistaken big time. So good and pleasant.
