Tasting Notes

Tonight’s is a little different this month. The theme is a Greek wine. I am opening an Agiorgitiko (AH-YOUR-YEE-TEE-KOH), a spicy, earthy wine from Peloponnese's peninsula. What I find interesting about this grape is that it can withstand heat, but the higher in altitude, the more spice becomes more defined. Pouring this into the glass, it is a dark red in color. Not purple, deep dark red. I opened this bottle about an hour ago, and the tannins are still pretty firm. Maybe I should have had this with my birthday dinner last night. Being a 2016, the acidity and tannin structure is clearly in place. I am glad to have many more bottles of this to what this looks like in years to come. Keep an eye out for other wines coming out of Nemea.
