Tasting Notes
Today’s Master the World blind tasting was on Oregon Pinots, and to say I was in a happy place is putting it mildly. I enjoyed the fact of trying to guess which AVA and, of course, which winery they came from. How many did I get? Zip, zero, nada.
Here was the lineup from today from Wine Spectators Top 100 from 2020
Wine - 2017 Eyrie Sisters Pinot
Wine - 2017 Johan Vineyards Pinot
Wine - 2017 Matzinger Davies Davies Pinot
Wine - 2017 DDO Rose Rock Pinot
Wine - 2018 Domaine Roy Incline Pinot
Wine - 2018 Big Table Farm Yamhill Carlton Pinot
Last week was there was a focus on the California side of Pinots. I enjoyed the Santa Rita Pinots, but not so much the Russian River Valley. Lastly, I will say it is unbelievable how different California and Oregon are. I am biased and enjoy Oregon way better!
