Tasting Notes

On Thursday, a new episode of the podcast drops, and what an episode it is! I was incredibly fortunate to sit down with none other than Joe Dobbes to discuss the 2020 vintage and what he did to make beautiful wines, getting excellent scores with his label Iterum Wines (@iterumwines). We also dove into his backstory, and wow, he shared some fantastic stories! I also surprised Joe with a 2020 blind wine from Arlyn (@arlynvineyard). You need to listen or watch until the end of the episode to get his reaction. 2020 Arlyn Equal Play Pinot Noir When I first opened this bottle I got some delicious barnyard funk on the nose and mid-palate. After an hour or so, the funk unfortunately drifted away, and about this time, there is the obvious question I know that is on the tip of your tongue, “This is a 2020, is it tainted with smoke?” Well, my dear reader it is not. Arlyn is one of those wineries that picked grapes before the wildfires of 2020. I am impressed and adore every sip of this wine! On the nose, there is a beautiful intermingling of bright and dark red fruits—killer acidity on the finish. A little bit of tannin on the mid-palate always shows killer age potential. Tomas does a killer job. Silky and soft on the mid-palate still showing great combo of dark and bright red fruit with an intermingling of spice and everything nice. 👇 👇 👇 👇 🍷 🗓 🍷 🗓 🍷 🗓 🍷 🗓 🍷 🗓 Trying to keep up with the events happening in Wine Country can be a full-time job.
