Tasting Notes
I want to continue focusing on the people behind the wine label. I started my newsletter because my day job focuses so much on the result with minimal regard for the people who do the work. In tech, it is all about the features, and if more bodies are needed not a problem. My desire is to focus on the people. You and I sit down with our Tuesday night wine to unwind and relax. How often do you think about the winemaker, the person filling the orders, or the person pouring the wine when you visit the winery? When you pop the cork on a bottle, my goal is to stop and think about at least one person who made your day of relaxation possible.
The 2019 Meredith Mitchell Pinot Noir from Elevee is an expression of deep dark red fruits on the mid-palate intermingled with the slightest bit of spice on the finish, but there is so much more to this incredible wine. The winemaker, Tom Fitzpatrick, is a fantastic person who is approachable, humble, and smart as a tack! His wife, France Fitzpatrick, is constantly exploring new recipes to pair with wine, and if you are lucky enough to experience her Pinot Noir jam, your toast in the mornings will never be the same.
Wine brings so much to the table! When we take a minute or two to acknowledge the people behind the wine, our day is elevated to a completely different experience!
