Tasting Notes
The third wine from Friday night’s dinner was the Luminous Hills Pinot from Audeant. I planned to open the 2019, but sometimes you have course correct. Before diving into the course correction, let me explain why I decided on this wine before trying it.
I have enjoyed the ever-loving heck out of the 2019 vintage, and I am the number one fanboy of Audeant. These variables add up to a perfect pairing for the main course of the evening. The week before the dinner, I opened the 2019 Luminous Hills, and I panicked a teeny bit. The structure of the wine was solid and spot on, with high acidity and grippy tannins foreshadowing an excellent period of rest that will blow my mind to Mars in 42 seconds. I tried a couple of other 2019s the same week to find they were changing from this ready-to-drink state to a state, saying, "Give me some time."
Quite frankly, I was worried as all get out about not having all the wines be perfect. There is an underlying tone in wine where if things aren't perfect, the whole event is a disaster. I had time, though, to think of a backup plan. On Friday, I went into the dinner with a solid plan, and it worked out. One of the qualities I try to convey repeatedly is that I am far from perfect. Being vulnerable in public to a group is super difficult but rewarding.
Would you like to know my plan and what wine was paired with the main course? There is a link in my bio to sign up for the newsletter coming out on Saturday, where I will go into more details about all of the wines from Friday night. I look forward to telling you more!
