Tasting Notes
There are so many aspects to the podcast I enjoy through and through. If you have been a long-time follower, you know I adore the ever-loving heck out of the stories and getting to know the people behind the label. Another aspect I enjoy is exploring the wines these incredible people make.
The 2019 Hall Ellie's Cabernet Sauvignon completely caught me off guard! A few weeks back, I had the opportunity to taste a Cab grape off the vine right before Harvest. I was shocked at how thick the skin was, and it made complete sense to me why Cab Sauvs are big and bold, which is why I usually wait for these bad boys to mellow out.
I must admit that on the first sip of the 2019 Ellie's, my knees weakened slightly. Everything about this wine was smooth and silky, and to make things easy, yummy! Senior winemaker Alison Frichtl Hollister dialed everything in wonderfully. The 2018 version of this wine was a blend of 77% Cab Saul and 23% Merlot. I enjoy bringing in Merlot for a Cab to make the bottle more approachable. Even on days three and four of this wine, I continued to be impressed!
