Tasting Notes

James Suckling Score 94 “A vibrant, fresh and delightful pinot with wild raspberries, sliced mushrooms, lemon zest, fresh herbs, violets and peppercorns on the nose. It’s medium-bodied with ultra-fine tannins and bright acidity. So elegant and transparent. Fantastic value. Drink now or hold.” I have been thinking a lot lately about what makes people buy wine. I have been asking myself the same question. I assume some people buy based on scores. Others read a tasting note, while price plays a huge part for most people. I purchased this bottle at New Seasons for around $30 on multiple data points. First, it was recommended within a group of friends. Secondly, I did take notice of the fantastic score from JS. The price point is also another factor. It’s nice to enjoy a cheaper Pinot without having to sacrifice quality. I think a primary reason I bought this bottle is that it's sort of an underdog. Of the rated wines on the Colene Clemens website, it is the cheapest yet highest rated. Buying wine is complex. I’m curious, what is your wine buying process? Oh, and my thoughts on the 2019 Dopp Creek. It’s a 2019, and yet again, I have yet to find a 2019 I didn’t adore the heck out of. . . . . 📰 Want to know more about Oregon Wine and Wineries sign up for my weekly newsletter. Link in the Bio!
