Tasting Notes

When it’s been a fantastic week, and you get killer news, Friday can’t wait. It’s time to pop the cork on something a little special. Last summer, when I visited Dukes, I was blown away on many different levels! First, it is tucked away back off the road, providing a serene escape from the hustle-bustle of life. The second was the setting. Sitting outside under a crisp blue sky, with a pond in front of you and sounds of nature, takes the stress of life away into nothingness. Third, they had Bubbles and darn fine Bubbles at that! The owners, Pat and Jackie, are amazing people and the conversations were great! Lastly, the wine is special and unique, bringing everything full circle. The 2017 Dukes Nipple Hill Pinot is excellent, displaying a light red in the glass. On entry, I let out a little moan of, “yes, this is what I was looking for!” The entry immediately grabs your attention with bright red fruit, letting you know it is a force to be reckoned with. Mid-palate, the intensity calms down into a silky pleasurable mouthfeel, and the finish ramps everything up again, reminding you, “You will never forget me!” . . . 📰 Want to know more about Oregon Wine and Wineries sign up for my weekly newsletter.
