Tasting Notes

I want to take a minute and circle back around to the Pinot I had yesterday for Thanksgiving dinner. I know I mentioned it a little bit, but I seriously feel I didn’t do enough justice. Let me explain a bit. The last few weeks, I have been feeling a little meh about Pinot. It is that feeling of having too much of something good, and you don’t realize how good it is until it’s gone. Thankfully for me, I have plenty of Pinot, and when I joined the Wine Club at Elevee last year, I got a bottle of Departure in the shipment. With only one bottle, I dared not open it. I adore Elevee, and sweet whisperings were telling me to save this bottle. I couldn’t help myself, though. When I was emailing France for the Fall shipment, I NEEDED another bottle. One to save and one to open. It makes perfect sense to me! When I took the first sip of this bottle yesterday, my knees weakened, and I was blown away. There was none of that young Cherry Cola low body I have been getting quite a bit lately. What was swirling around in my mouth was a highly structured terroir-driven masterpiece of silky smooth art from start to finish. This bottle of wine will be forever imprinted as a day of amazing laughs, food, bonding, and the 2017 Departure Pinot from Elevee. Thank Tom and France for playing a role on this day! . . . . . . 📰 Want to know more about Oregon Wine and Wineries sign up for my weekly newsletter. Link in the Bio!
