❄️☃️Happy Snow Day!
For once, the weather predicted snow and we ended up with snow on the ground! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and what a day to be stuck inside.
🍷 Wine :
2017 Bledsoe Family LeFore Syrah
I am in the infant stages of exploring the wines from Bledsoe Family Winery, Bledsoe McDaniels, and Doubleback. So far, it's been one heck of a short stroll with a stunning cab from Doubleback, along with a couple of standout Pinots and Syrahs from Bledsoe McDaniels. Speaking of Doubleback, I can't believe I don't have it on my top 10 list. See what I mean about picking a top ten list. It's close to impossible!!
I had this wine for the first time recently at their winemaker’s dinner in Mac. Unfortunately, I didn’t take my journal into the dinner, so I wrote my notes on a small menu. My notes went from “Wow” to “Seriously Wow!” and ended with “Oh my freakin grapes Batman!”
The “Oh my freakin grapes” note was for the 2017 LeFore Syrah. Maybe my expectation for Syrah is off, but I usually expect some brightness accompanied with a bit of grippiness. Instead, what I got from the LeFore was silky freakin smoothness with a bit of forest floor funk. When I say a bit, I mean enough for you to notice, but by no means an overpowering funk. Day two of this wine is an experience you need to explore firsthand.
