Tasting Notes
Today was a good day even though there were four hours of meetings to attend. I have finally gotten back into my bike-riding groove. My little 11-mile route PR was a little under 40 minutes a few years back. I matched the PR a couple of weeks back, and my PR is now under 39 minutes today. It’s small in terms of life, but it’s always great to keep pushing the mind and body forward!
Also, a couple of weeks back, we talked about Oregon Riesling. Tonight felt like a great time to bring up a 2016 Oregon Riesling Sparkling from Brooks. Not only is this a Dry Riesling, but it was also triaged for 44 months (3 years 8 months). In the glass, there is evidence of a mature Riesling with darker tones of yellow. I must admit I have difficulty describing this wine because my vocabulary for a Sparkling Riesling is next to nothing. It is a bone dry Riesling, coming across on entry and mid-palate as a Riesling between the stages of youth and wisdom with high levels of acidity and structure.
I am thoroughly enjoying this tonight, and if you haven’t visited Brooks lately, I highly suggest ordering food with the Riesling, and you can’t pass on Chef Norma’s Brussel sprouts!
