Tasting Notes
There are wines you can’t forget how they came into your world. More importantly, the person who introduced you to the wine is way more important. A few years back, when I was at Alexana, Shane introduced the Fennwood Pinot Noir to me because it was one of his favorites. I am now a forever fan of the Fennwood vineyard. The vineyard has some spectacular qualities, and I am always seeking wines from here.
Thank you Shane for running into me last week and this 2014 Alexana Fennwood Vineyard Pinot Noir is for you!
In the glass, fantastic red coloring gives the impression of a younger wine even though it’s nine years old. On the nose, you get all of the classic Pinot Noir characteristics. The entry and mid-palate is where this wine shines with an elegant consistency of dark and bright red fruits in a harmonious balance. For the finish, you experience, what I call, the extended spice of life. It’s challenging to fathom how many more years this wine can go. Thank goodness I have a couple more bottles to find out!
